Expecting official visitors soon? There are eight key steps you can take to avoid failing (in this case, an inadequate rating) a CQC inspection:

1. Maintain adequate staffing levels

Ensure that there are enough staff on duty to properly care for residents. This includes having a sufficient number of trained and qualified staff members.

2. Regularly clean and maintain your care home

Keep the care home clean and well-maintained to ensure that it is safe and comfortable for residents.

3. Manage medications properly

Implement procedures to ensure that residents' medications are managed correctly, including accurate documentation and regular medication reviews.

4. Implement care planning and documentation procedures

Develop and implement individual care plans for each resident, and ensure that all care is properly documented.

5. Improve quality of care

Continuously review and improve the care provided to residents to ensure that it is of a high standard.

6. Practise effective communication

Regularly communicate with residents and their families.
